Chi Chi- Dark Purple (Party Princess Collection)

Hey guys, today i have a swatch of a Chi Chi polish. I believe i haven't swatched Chi Chi in ages, anyways this particular polish belongs to the Party Princess collection. I don't know it's exact name because they don't label the polishes you buy in the collection so I'm calling it dark purple. These are only available when you buy the whole collection. 

The polish formula was amazing, literally i was shocked when i used this. It glided on perfectly onto the nail and dried super fast. I cannot find a flaw, no jokes. 

It didnt even require much clean up and very easy to use, literally this mani took about 10 minutes including drying time. Now for me that's impressive. It's a lovely purple with a bit of a fine particle glitter effect to it, i don't know if the photo shows it well. Photos don't do it justice.  

I was very pleased with the outcome and got asked by many what polish i used. I definitely see myself using this more often. I don't really use purples much but i think after using this that may possibly change.

The above photos were taken in natural light during the day. The photo below was also taken in natural light however it was taken a little later on in the day. Hopefully this helps to see how the polish looks

Australis- Aqua

Hey guys, i hope you're all doing well. Today i have a swatch of Australis Aqua. I apologise for the photos, they kind of look foggy and not so clear. I don't know what happened. I will do another swatch of this polish but in the meantime here is Aqua.

I think the name is spot on with the colour. If you haven't used Australis polishes before what are you waiting for. They have one of the best formulas I've ever seen and used. They apply very easily and are completely streak free. I used 2 light coats here and i did notice it was a little sheer, so maybe i needed a 3rd coat.

I'm a huge sucker for blue polishes, in fact i have more blue polishes than any other colour and this definitely is a beautiful colour. As for drying time, it was great. It dried really well. So that is always a good thing. I am yet to find a bad thing to say about Australis polishes.

Sally Hansen- Mint Sorbet

So today i have another swatch. I've been eyeing this particular nail polish for ages. So i went out last week and bought it. This is Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen.

I will admit that I've been loving the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polishes because they have great formula. This was also the case for Mint Sorbet. It was easy to use, applying was a breeze, great dry time and the consistency of the polish was awesome.

This whole manicure took about 7 minutes. If you've been following me for a little while, you'll know that i love my green nail polishes and the colour of this is amazing. It's already become a favourite of mine.

I also like the fact that the nail polish doesnt look streaky or messy on my nails, which can be a real eye sore. If you haven't tried this yet, give it a go.

Essie- Case Study

So this is the first time I'm swatching Essie polish on my blog. I like Essie polishes so its kind of weird that i haven't swatched them before. Anyways aside from my rambling today I'm gonna be talking about Essie Case Study. Case Study is a creamish brown polish. If you guys don't already know, I'm a sucker for nude, tan, beige and creamish colours so when I saw this in the store i knew i had to have it. 

The photos show 2 coats but this is opaque with one coat if you do a generous coat. However knowing me, i had to add the second coat. Only downside to this polish is that it is so much darker on your nails then in the bottle. Don't get me wrong i love the colour on my nails but i initially picked it up because i loved the colour in the bottle and if i had to pick which I liked better, it would have to be the colour in the bottle then on the nail. I still love the colour on the nail though but not as much as in the bottle. In fact if you look at pictures below(not the top photo cause you can't tell) you can tell the difference between the polish that is in the bottle and on your nail. I do have to say that you can notice a bigger difference in person then the pictures.

Okay enough said about the colour. Applying was a breeze and no clean up which I love. Drying was good, not great but definitely better then alot of polishes and by good i mean that once you painted both your hands, you had to wait 2-3 minutes for the next coat which is not bad. I usually say great drying time to polishes that are done by the time you finish your both hands that you can go straight away with a second coat. Still pretty impressive. The formula was also great. I definitely see myself using Essie Case Study in the future.

Revlon- Blue Lagoon

So today i have a swatch of Revlon Blue Lagoon. Blue Lagoon is a light blue, almost baby blue with silver speckles. The speckles aren't that noticeable on the nail but if you look closely at the bottle you will see them. This polish only required 2 coats 

So the formula of this polish was not the best from Revlon. I've tried better but it wasn't a let down either. It was a little bit thinner then most Revlon polishes. Due to this applying was just a tad trickier. Despite being thin and more runnier then regular polishes, i was surprised when it was opaque at only 2 coats. Being quite thin i thought that it require about 4 coats, so it was plus that it was opaque in only 2 coats. What happened when applying the polish to your nail was that when you brushed it onto your nail, since it was runny, the excess polish from the top of the brush moved quickly down the brush and onto the nail. Adding excess polish onto the nail. I recommend when using this polish to wipe it completely onto the bottle and then brush onto your nail, that way when the excess polish moves down onto your nail, it will be the right amount. Hope that made sense.

Other then that i had no other problem with this polish and was quite happy, even the drying time was great. By the time i applied polish to both my hands, the polish was try so i could go over it with the second coat straight away without waiting. Clean up was also a breeze, in fact there was barely any clean up. All clean up was done when the polish was wet. I just cleaned up using an orange/cuticle stick. 

Do I like this polish? I do like this polish, the colour is amazing, the drying time is great, only downside is its consistency but i learnt how to take care of that. So overall a great polish by Revlon. 

Blue Lagoon is definitely a beautiful colour and it looks so good. Your polish will have shimmery effect once on your nails which you can see in the photos. What I also like is that its quite thin on your nails. I'm not a huge fan of thick polishes because they look all thick and gloppy on your nails. I like it when it looks as though there isn't all these layers on top of your nail( if you know what I mean)

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine- Plume

So today i went shopping. In particular i went to priceline which was having a 40% off all cosmetics sale. I promised myself that I wouldn't buy a thing but ended up walking out of the store with 2 nail polishes. Not that bad I'd like to think. This being one of the polishes. So today I've swatched Sally Hansen's Lustre Shine nail polish in the colour Plume. The Lustre Shine range seems to be duo-chrome polishes which i totally love and can't get enough and since i haven't tried this range, today was the best time to try it.

Sally Hansen has been a brand that i always buy from and will continue to buy from. They are decent priced polishes and work well. The formula for this polish was great and so was drying time. It tried really quickly. I only required 2 coats to achieve this look. It was however alittle streaky but I've realised that all duo-chrome polishes are like that, well atleast the ones I've tried and you can kind of see that in the picture.

Here is the polish bottle up close so you can see the duo-chrome. This polishes base colour is a bronze-gold with blue and green effects. At different angles the nail looks either gold, blue or green. The picture below shows a slight green tinge from a different angle. Mostly you will see the foil-y bronze/gold colour but if you're outdoors the duo-chrome effect works better, especially in the sun you can see all three colours on your nails.

Applying was a breeze and i had no problem with this polish whatsoever. They retail for $9.95 here in Australia but i was able to snatch it up on sale for $5.95 due to the 40% sale at priceline. The particular colour Plume is incredibly pretty and having such good results with this polish makes me want to try the rest of the Lustre Shine range.

As i mentioned before that it is slightly streaky, it isn't a big deal and it doesn't affect the way the polish is applied. In all honesty the slight lines on my nails don't bother me at all and are not even that noticeable in real life. I highly recommend this polish and am very pleased.

Nail Polish Remover Pens

Hey guys, the Born Pretty Store sent me Nail Polish Remover Pens to review. This set Comes with 5 remover pens. Each pen comes with a total of four tips, one to start with and three extras on the cap. I've Been using brushes to clean up my mistakes for ages so I thought why not give this a try. In the picture below you can see my mani is clean with the help of these remover pens.

Are the pens easy to use? Yes they are easy to use and very helpful might I add. It worked pretty well and is always very useful to have. They're the perfect size and fits quite well in the hand. The only hassle is it may dry so use it quickly or store it in such a way that won't dry them out. Of course you can always dip the tip in polish remover if it ever dries out.

Cleaning is easy and simple and this can be used exactly like the brush method. The tip is slightly thick so sometimes you may wipe off a bit of your polish. So just be careful. For that reason I prefer the brushes because they are thin however I know I still will be using these because they are helpful.

Born Pretty Store Water Decals

Today I have a review of Water Decals from the Born Pretty Store. These are used to decorate your nail just like nail art stickers. They come in a set of 11 small sheets as seen below for the cheap price of $4.73. Each sheet has roughly 20 decals each, which means you can use one sheet to do four hands or two full manicures.

How to use:

1. Peel of protective clear film

2. Dip water decal into water for 10-20 seconds

3. Stick nail decal onto nail

4. Dab dry with paper towel

5. Secure water decal with top coat

What I loved about this was the fact when the decal is wet you can move it around until you find the right spot. Once you find the right spot, dab dry with paper towel to stop decal from moving.

                         

Here you can see some of the water decals. The Born Pretty Store has many different sets of water decals so head over and pick the set that you like. As you can see in the picture above they are set in order of thumb to pinky. This can be seen in the hello kitty and snow white decals above. Starting from largest to smallest (thumb to pinky)

The polish here is Country Club Khaki by Orly with water decals from this set. I actually really like water decals after using them. You can say I like them more than nail art stickers since you have the flexibility to move them around. There is no difficulty with using these so that was good. The only thing that was a bit of a problem was removing the water decals from backing film once wet but that wasn't a huge problem and you will get used to it once you get the hang of it.

I've had this on my nails for a few days with top coat and it has stayed on and looks the exact same as day 1 of this manicure. I definitely recommend this for everyone and even beginner nail art people who want a simple way of decorating plain nails. Orly- Country Club Khaki (review and swatch)

I'm such a liker for nude and beige polishes, so you can guess my excitement when I was sent Orly Country Club Khaki to review. Country Club Khaki is a creamy, milky nude-ish nail polish colour. I truely like this colour. Orly always seems to impress me. It's a subtle colour and very work appropriate. You can wear this polish anywhere and that's why I absolutely love beige and nude colours and the fact that they look awesome. it dried smooth and very shiny like every other Orly polish. Country Club Khaki  is completely streak proof and didn't require any clean up.

I only used 1 coat to achieve this look which really shocked me. It was completely opaque and didn't require a second coat. It was an added bonus since Orly nail polishes dry super quick. This manicure only took 10 minutes which included painting my nails and letting them dry. This is my quickest drying polish I have in my whole collection of polishes and not to mention one coater.

You've got to love a polish that only requires one coat, dries super quick and requires absolutely no clean up. I forgot to mention amazingly smooth and shiny. Orly- Charged Up (review and swatch)

Today I have swatch and review for Orly Charged Up. Charged Up is a classic dark purple with an amazing shine. I've noticed with all Orly polishes that they have a great shine which I absolutely love. The drying time for the polish was great because by the time you finished your last finger, the first finger was already dry. When I use dark colours I always hate clean up as they stain your cuticles and skin but I had no problem cleaning up with Orly Charged Up. Applying was also a breeze so that was good. I've used I few Orly polishes before and now I can finally say that I really truely like Orly

Three coats was used to achieve this look however you can still get away with two coats as long as your second coat is not incredibly thin. The polish has a smooth and shiny surface once dry. No topcoat is used in the pictures. You don't need topcoat as it already has that incredible shine as if it has topcoat and seems to be lasting quite a while without topcoat.

I can definitely say that Charged Up is one of my favourite polishes. I recommend this polish if your looking for a dark and gorgeous polish as well as if your in a rush because I was amazed at its drying time.

Born Pretty Store Magnetic Polish + Dotting Tool

The Born Pretty Store sent me two things to review, Magnetic nail polish and dotting tools. I was really excited for the Magnetic polish since I have never tried it and was waiting for ages to try.


The magnetic nail polish comes with a magnetic plate all for only $6.38. I have seen other brands with their plates and I was happy to see that this brand had handles to hold from. The nail polish I got to review was CH Nail Magnetic Nail polish NO.14, The NO.14 is a metallic blue with purple and blue shimmer particles however the purple is hardly noticeable and definitely not noticeable on your fingers. Overall the nail polish worked amazingly and the magnetic plate was fairly strong. Let me warn you the photos don't do justice to what it really looks like. It looks much better in person than in photo.


Below is the swatch for the nail polish.


This is what the polish looks like in the sun or outside. It is a gorgeous blue and I was very happy with the quality. The nail polish dried fairly quickly in fact after having the magnet plate over your nails for about 10-15 sec they were almost dry.


This is basically what the polish would look like if you're indoors, the colour is more of a navy blue this way. Both in the sun and indoors the colour looks amazing.

Steps to achieve this look:
1. Paint a thin layer of polish on your nails and allow to dry
2. Paint a thick layer of polish and quickly hold the magnetic plate over your nail for 10-15 seconds. The closer the magnetic plate the better the effect
3. Apply top coat to keep it lasting for a while.

The magnetic polish dries very quickly and the quality of the polish was amazing. The nail polish was very pigmented and the colour was awesome. The best thing is you can even use it as regular nail polish without the magnetic. The amazing price is only $6.38. The formula of the polish was great and applied easily. The only downside is you may not get perfect stripes across your nail every time so it's kinda trial and error however once you get used to it, it will be easy


The Dotting Tools worked great and definitely felt of good quality. It didn't feel cheap and felt like quality nail art equipment. The dotting tool set comes with five dotting tools, each double sided and with different size tips to make different size dots. The dotting tool was very easy to use and doesn't require any practice. I will be posting pictures of nail art using the dotting tool pretty soon so stay tuned.

Review- Luxury Hand Spa by Homedics

Before I start with the review, I want to mention the past week has been really packed and busy for me which has resulted in no posting. I can also mention that the next two weeks will also be busy but I will try to post as much as I can. Just bare with me.

I know that although I haven't posted in a week and a half, I hope that this small review will make up for it.

So I believe it was last month or the month before that, that I went and purchased Homedic's Luxury hand spa. The main reason behind this was I needed a nail dryer since I often paint my nails. This review was requested although I did intend on doing a review.

The luxury hand spa contains 12 of equipment for your manicure/pedicure needs. These worked amazingly and no need for batteries. It gets charged so it was a added bonus. My favorite would have to be the cuticle lifter which lifts your cuticles and pushes them back, all while it makes your cuticles need. This method worked better than using an orange stick and pushing back my cuticles. It looked so much neater with the cuticle lifter. The 12 pc equipment included things like bluffer, shiner, ball point nail trim, filer and basically all the nail needs.

Onto the hand spa. The hand spa worked great and it was easy to use. Although for me I personally won't be using it a lot. It basically gives your hand a warm bubbly massage while softening your cuticles. The only great point was softer cuticles which means easier to push back. Although its always a plus to have.

The last thing is the nail dryer component of the luxury hand spa. The nail dryer definitely dried my polish faster. It worked amazing and was exactly what I needed when I was searching for a nail dryer. If your looking for a nail dryer than this will be great plus you get bonuses such as a hand spa and manicure/pedicure equipment. The only downside to the nail dryer is that it is fairly noisy. I have heard noisy nail dryers but this was even more noisier. In fact I found myself closing my door so others at home wouldn't get disturbed. Other than that it worked great. Personally the noise didn't bother me as long as it was doing its job. So if you don't mind a noisy nail dryer than I recommend this one.

Whats better is that each tape is seperately wrapped and packaged. The tape comes in every colour you could use and its really easy to use. It also has a sticky side so you dont need to glue it down. Just cut and attach to your nails. This product was easy to use and only took about five minutes to attach to all my fingers which is great because i personally love to do nail art but sometimes hate it when it takes forever. I had no problems with this product however i do recommend top coat to secure the tape as they may start peeling a few hours later if you dont have topcoat. Striping Tape Nail Art

Here is a quick and simple nail art that looks amazing. I used Chi Chi in Glamourama. Which is a simple and perfect gold. I then used the striping tape from the Born Pretty Store in the colou silver however it was glittery and blinging.

I got so many compliments for this design. It is simple but still looks great. The nail polish took five minutes to dry with 2 coats and the applying of the tape also took five minutes. So for this design in only took me ten minutes which i am so happy about.
